Each week you can see the activities that our students were engaged in as well as many of the resources I used in my teaching. I put out these weekly posts for parents to see what their child is learning in PE as well as for other PE teachers to get ideas they can implement in their own program.
This week and next week our students will be participating in some free choice activities while wearing their pedometers to measure the activity levels of their choices. Our students use the FitStep Stream Bluetooth Pedometers from GOPHER Sports. These are the industry gold standard when it comes to activity tracking. They measure the number of steps taken, total minutes of activity time, and MVPA (moderate to vigorous physical activity) time. MVPA levels for elementary students is defined as anything that gets you moving at a speed of 110 steps per minute or more. At the end of class, students press one button and all their information is transmitted via Bluetooth to the computer software in seconds!
