Each week you can see the activities that our students were engaged in as well as many of the resources I used in my teaching. I put out these weekly posts for parents to see what their child is learning in PE as well as for other PE teachers to get ideas they can implement in their own program.
Grades K-2
K-2 kicked off the week with a Valentine's Day warmup activity where they got to choose between 2 different Valentine's-themed items and then perform the exercise or activity associated with their choice.
We then moved into a small-group activity called "Go Fish" where students tried to find matching cards by taking turns running back and forth across the gym.
Students also worked on a math-integration activity this week called "Greater Than, Less Than, Equal" where they rolled dice to compare their number to an opponent's number and win stuffed animals to fill up their team's kiddie pool. The original idea for this activity came from JD Hughes @pe2themax on Twitter.
Finally, our closing activity was called, "If Your Shirt Has..." and students watched the video and looked at the pictures of different kinds of shirts. When they saw a shirt that had matching characteristics to the shirt they were wearing, they got to go get their water bottle and line up.
Grades 3-5
Our older students worked on some kicking skills this week. Our activities focused on kicking at targets on the ground. Kind of hard to do "soccer-style" activities on a half gym, but we did our best to make it work. We played "Soccer with the Champs" and "Points-A-Plenty" to help students practice their skills.
