I use Plickers cards to do quick formative assessments with my students to see if they grasp a particular concept or skill that we are working on in class.
Each student has a kid code number. Each of the Plickers cards are numbered and hanging in a rolling pocket chart. When it's time to do a check for understanding, I have students go get their Plicker card and I will put a question up on the projector. The question will relate to the lesson focus of the day. Once students view the question and are ready to answer, they hold up their Plicker card with the black QR style code facing me. By turning the orientation of their card, students are able to select one of four possible answers. They select the answer by placing their thumb on the letter they want and making sure the letter is at the bottom of the card. I will then use my iPhone to scan the class's cards using the phone's camera. All the data is immediately captured and saved into the Plickers software program and we can then review the results or keep that information as evidence of student learning. |
