Each week you can see the activities that our students were engaged in as well as many of the resources I used in my teaching. I put out these weekly posts for parents to see what their child is learning in PE as well as for other PE teachers to get ideas they can implement in their own program.
Due to another short week (3.5 days), that meant that 12 of our classes didn't have PE twice this week. Also, 8 classes missed PE twice last week due to the holiday, so it was a good time to incorporate some free choice activities for students. Over the last 2 week period I saw some classes 2x, some 3x, and others 4x. Using these free choice days allows me to keep all my classes moving together on the same lesson within a unit and helps the flow of curricular instruction run smoothly.
I introduced a couple new stations this week and kept a few of the same ones from last week. We continued to monitor our activity levels with our FitStep Stream pedometers as well. Students are learning that some of their activity choices involve more movement or require more vigorous physical activity than others. They are beginning to make connections between their choices and their activity levels which is encouraging!
