Welcome to Williamsburg Elementary Physical Education! My name is Mr. Graham and each week you can see the activities that our students were engaged in as well as many of the resources I used in my teaching. I put out these weekly posts for parents to see what their child is learning in PE as well as for other PE teachers to get ideas they can implement in their own programs.
Overview of the Week
This week, students in grades 3-5 began our first ever fishing unit! Students learned basic terminology of a spincast rod and reel, fishing safety rules, and basic flip cast. The majority of the fishing gear came from a grant that I wrote last year through the National Fishing in Schools program. It has been a great addition to the curricular experience as it promotes the participation a lifelong activity or hobby.
Grades K-2 practiced hitting off a tee this week. They rotated between the jobs of batter, fielder, and scorekeeper in small groups. K-1 were introduced to using the iPads to keep track of their points using the Scorekeeper XL app.
Our final Healthy Habits at Home contest came to a close this week and our grade level winners are: in Kindergarten - Mrs. Murphy, 1st grade - Mrs. Cox, 2nd grade - Mrs. Antone, 3rd grade - Ms. Crawford, 4th grade - Mrs. Buchman, and 5th grade - Mr. Smith. Congratulations to all our students!
