Welcome to Williamsburg Elementary Physical Education! My name is Mr. Graham and each week you can see the activities that our students were engaged in as well as many of the resources I used in my teaching. I put out these weekly posts for parents to see what their child is learning in PE as well as for other PE teachers to get ideas they can implement in their own programs.
Overview of the Week
After three weeks of skating, it was time for students to participate in activities of their choosing in a "free choice" format. Basically, I put out a bunch of different equipment for students to choose from and they decide what they want to do. Some students stay at one station for the entire class period, while others move around to several different activities they enjoy. Offering students variety allows them to be in charge of how they want to choose to be active. We also used this week for students who wanted to continue working on earning the next color belt in the jump rope ninja activity an opportunity to "test".
We also celebrated April's Healthy Habits at Home contest winners from each grade level - Kindergarten-Mrs. Murphy, 1st grade-Mrs. Rodgers, 2nd grade-Mrs. Towler, 3rd grade-Miss Crawford, 4th grade-Mrs. Buchman, and 5th grade-Mr. Smith's class! This week's focus for week 1 of May is on fitness as students were challenged to perform a "Workout of the Week" at home 3 times for a total of 7 minutes.
