Thank you to all the visitors of my "This Week in P.E." blog posts over the years. It requires a large amount of time and work to continue to produce this content each week. As a full-time teacher, high school coach, my own family, and wanting to dedicate time to other pursuits, I've decided to take a break from writing my weekly blog. I will keep the archives accessible back to January 2022 for those that would like to look at them. Just know, that I won't be posting new content here each week for the time being.
Welcome to Williamsburg Elementary Physical Education! My name is Mr. Graham and each week you can see the activities that our students were engaged in as well as many of the resources I used in my teaching. I put out these weekly posts for parents to see what their child is learning in PE as well as for other PE teachers to get ideas they can implement in their own programs. Overview of the WeekIt was homecoming week at the HS and spirit days all week long for us here at the elementary school. Tons of great costumes a fun was had by all who participated. This week in P.E. we working on throwing skills...specifically throwing at a target with accuracy and stepping with our opposite foot when we throw. Our Healthy Habits at Home contest is wrapping up this weekend for the month of September, so be sure to bring your sheets back to school next week so we can tally up all the challenges completed and award the trophies to the winning classes from each grade level! Grades K-2 are finishing up a 1-week unit on chasing & fleeing learning some fun tag games. We are finishing up week 3 of our "Healthy Habits at Home" contest which focuses on food this week and challenged students to eat 2 different kinds of vegetables! Overview of the Week We finished up the second week of our 2-week units on locomotor skills with K-2 and cooperative games using pedometers with grades 3-5. I also introduced some simple activities that I like to leave in case I need a substitute to cover my classes. Getting students familiar with some easy games make sub planning easier throughout the year. Our Healthy Habits at Home Contest is in its 2nd week with a focus on FAMILY. This week's challenge is to play a game of some type with a member(s) of your family! Overview of the Week This week grades 3-5 focused on measuring their activity levels in class using a pedometer while participating in some fun cardio games. Grades K-2 began a unit on locomotor skills (different ways to travel on our feet). Our Healthy Habits at Home Contest kicked off with this week's focus being Fitness. Remember to circle the challenges you complete on your activity sheet at home! ATTENTION 4th & 5th grade PARENTS! - Our Annual Elementary School Mile Run Race will be held on Friday, October 18th at the GHS track/football field. Girls run starts at 6 pm, with the boys starting at 6:30. Williamsburg Elementary students are the 3x defending champions of this event, so be sure to sign your student up to participate!
