Grades 3-5
We kicked off some bowling activities this week in PE. To get students used to the rotation of positions, we started with Blackout Bowling using 1 shot from the bowler at 6 pins and then crossing out the number of pins knocked down on the scorecard until the entire card was "blacked out". Our second lesson jumped to using all ten pins and 2 shots by the bowler. Instead of keeping score, students earned cash for the total amount of pins they knocked down - we called this game "Bowling for Dollars"
Grades 1 & 2
This week continued to focus on the underhand rolling skill and stepping with the opposite foot when bowling. Students got to use the carpeted bowling lanes this week and learned how to rotate between the positions of score keeper, bowler, pin setter, and ball returner through two different activities: Blackout Bowling and Bingo Bowling.
Kindergarten
Since we only had a half day on Friday, Kindergarten only had one day of PE class this week. To go along with the bowling theme, students participated in an activity called Partner Pin Pickup. I took a short video of each class and posted them on Class Dojo for parents. If you haven't connected to Class Dojo yet, you're missing out! Contact me, and I'll set you up! mgraham@geneva304.org
