Check out what our students have been learning this week in PE...
Our week was a bit disrupted with music rehearsals for 4th grade and then no classes on Friday due to the Grandparent's Day program, so most classes only had PE once this week, two classes I saw twice, and one 4th grade class I didn't see at all. However, the classes I did get to see were great, as students participated in underhand & overhand throwing activities that allowed me a chance to assess their throwing technique.
This is the Grade Level Outcome we were working on this week in 3rd grade. We used these 2 activities to help develop our skills.
Our students continued practicing their catching skills this week. Last week we used scarves and bean bags, this week we used a variety of items such as stuffed animals, rubber critters, yarn balls, Super 90 Gatorskin balls, whiffle balls & scoops, and even some 7" dia. playground balls!
We only got to see Kindergarten once this week due to the half day on Friday, but students had fun working with dice to determine "greater than, less than, or equal" numbers and then winning a stuffed beanie baby animal for their team if they rolled the larger number. The activity is called "Roll with It" and was created by a Georgia Teacher of the Year, JD Hughes. Check out his website at www.pe2themax.com for tons of great content. Below is a video from last year playing it in class. I posted videos of this year's kindergarten students on Class Dojo, so be sure to check it out. Not connected to Class Dojo yet?
