This week our 3rd-5th graders completed their second week of cooperative/teambuilding activities. We focused on National Standard 4: Exhibits responsible personal and social behavior that respects self & others.
We continued our work toward mastering the basic locomotor skills with several different activities...
Our final activity called "Capture the Critters" focused on getting students to take turns, share equipment and travel in general space safely. Check out the video below.
Our first grade students are also working on locomotor skills. They played the 4 corner locomotor activity and Zoo Keeper! We used the Class Dojo app to randomly select students up on our projector. The selected students go to be the Zoo Keeper and let one animal out of its cage. Students traveled around the gym in the same way that the animal travels! Finally, we got to use jump ropes again this week and this time we practiced consecutive jumps going forward or back ward.
Kindergarten explored the wonderful world of my 200+ beanie baby collection! We worked on catching a self-toss with "Catch the Critters" and then we rolled hula hoops to try and "Capture the Critters". Students worked cooperatively in self-chosen partner pairs to share equipment & space safely and take turns.
